SYSTEM DESIGN
Over 100 Years of Chaos in Everyday Life
From toys to the DIN-A paper size standard, from underground networks and shelves, to computer operating systems and espresso capsules: systems govern our everyday life. Most of the time, we don’t even notice them. For more than 100 years, the idea of the system has been a formative one in design, with design oscillating between system and chaos. The exhibition features more than 120 works by international designers such as Otl Aicher, Werner Aisslinger, Mario Bellini, Marcel Breuer, Ray + Charles Eames, Willy Fleckhaus, Buckminster Fuller, Konstantin Grcic, Hans Gugelot, Jonathan Ive, Ferdinand Kramer, Le Corbusier, Enzo Mari, Ingo Maurer, Bruno Munari, George Nelson, Verner Panton, Dieter Rams, Richard Sapper, Mart Stam, O.M. Ungers, Massimo Vignelli and Marco Zanuso.
