TECTA is one of the last two production sites in Germany specialising in the craft of caning. At MAGAZIN, visitors can watch caning master Hansgert Butterweck in action: he manufactures seats for Bauhaus classics like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Weißenhof chair, which, since the beginning of the 1980s, has been fitted with the lenticular mesh made from Indonesian Rotang palm leaves that was used in the original models.
