For Jan Kath, a carpet is like a canvas. It’s the medium the designer uses to narrate stories, to provide insights into his world of experience and to make these worlds tactile. Traditional patterns, abstract colour gradients or photo-realistic images: the designs are hand-knotted using Tibetan highland wool, finest Chinese silk and Nepalese nettle.
