The Cologne design event now encompasses 190 shows by national and international designers and manufacturers, held at closely clustered venues in consecutive phases throughout the city. The PASSAGEN exhibitions and superbly staged presentations continue to attract intense interest, and design aficionados have deemed this event a ‘must’ for years now. The program’s event and exhibition itinerary includes outstanding shows by international cultural institutions and museums. Highlights for 2012 are as follows: the François Dumas exhibition staged by the French Institute in Cologne in cooperation with the Villa Nouailles in Hyères, the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres frit porcelain factory and Designers Days Paris; the Swiss Design Ensemble; lighting products by BOCCI as well as furniture from the young Dutch label QUODES by Nendo, BarberOsgerby and Alfredo Häberli; the Wohnkultur66 lighting design presentation held in Hotel Chelsea, featuring designs by Poul Hennigsen, Verner Panton, Ross Lovegrove, Louise Campbell alongside furniture by Finn Juhl; the Prouvé RAW collection presented by Vitra in the Stoll Forum showroom; the events taking place at the AIT ArchitekturSalon gallery, or the next-generation designers showcasing their designs as part of PASSAGEN’s new university forum, plus a whole host of additional exciting events.
